Artist's Description

The rear entrance of City Hall in Davenport, Florida, at night. This City Hall was built in 1927 and was expanded in 2018. Notice the yellowishness of the lights, another staple of Florida history, using dim lighting so as to see the stars. Today those lights are a bright white. Safer but without the mystique of yesteryear. 2015.

About George D Gordon III

George D Gordon III

George Daniel Gordon III grew up in the heart of Brooklyn, New York, where he was exposed to the abundant museums of the city. When he was just 14, he began his pursuit of photography. As a young adult, George served in two foreign conflicts: Desert Shield and the first Gulf War, during which he worked at times as a combat medic. Afterwards he pursued a career in the industrial metal industry and graduated after five-year program for veterans in pipe-fitting, a field that requires tremendous mathematical skills. He became a journeyman, a.k.a., master craftsman, in 2014. Dedicated to every effort he pursues, George's artistry not only includes photographs, but it also includes two- and three-dimensional art.
